Advertising support network?

  • On the latest update I noticed the following message “Quick Page/Post Redirect Plugin contains advertising support – by installing and/or using it, the plug-in will become part of an advertising-supported network.”.

    I am extremely concerned about this considering there is no explanation as to what the “advertising-supported-network” is.

    Please elaborate. What are you using my site for?

  • This is a good question. I would like to know this as well. What is the advertising support you are referring to?

    Yeah, without a detailed explanation of what is meant there, I am going to have to assume the worst and stop using this.

    @zergling81 yeah, I’m thinking about ditching it. All I can assume is that occasionally instead of our redirects performing as normal, visitors are getting redirected to pages containing advertisements. I know that previously this plugin was revoked from the WP directory for a security issue, so I believe I too am going to have to make the decision to remove it. Shame really because it functions pretty well.

    Same here. Given the lack of support here in general from the developer, and in particular no reply at all on this highly concerning issue AND no response by email either, I’d strongly recommend everyone not only disable but fully delete this plugin. There are other options.

    I want information on that as well. The lack of info makes me fear that there might be a data privacy violation in light of GDPR happening. That would be a serious no-go.
