• Hi,

I know that under Options-Writing, the Update Services list Pingomatic. On the Update Services page in the codex, there are a number of URLs listed under XML-RPC Ping Services. And, looking at Technorati’s website, they recommend pinging them directly even if you use Pingomatic.

So, my question is, what’s the best approach? Should Technorati’s URL be added to the Update Services list?

Are the services listed on the Update Services Codex page the ones that pingomatic sends to, or is that list the other services that can be added to the list?

Should they be added to the list?

Hope you see where I’m going – I’ve searched for all this info, but can’t find any general advice on how to set up the pinging to be most effective.

Any ideas would be most appreciated. Thanks.

    Kathleen

  • Going to the pingomatic’s website you can see the list of services they ping.
It is advisable NOT to ping the same services twice – you may end up banned.

Other than that… there isn’t too much to say.

    moshu,

Thanks for the response. Guess I won’t worry about it, then. But, it’s interesting that Technorati recommends pinging them separately even if you use pingomatic:

hey how do i know if i am already pinging these services from the default pingomatic thing in wordpress. Wouldn’t that be double pinging if I actually register it to another site.
