• Hi,

I am new to blogging and need advice from the experts here. Before, I ask would like to let you know, how I am working at present.

    1. I visit some good sites (quality contents) and read contents there. And before making a post, I try to edit post contents, so they may differ from the original.

    2. Finally, I link Source URL into my post.

What I want to know is, whether I am following the correct way or not? As I am neither a stealer nor content maker. And don’t want to get involve in anykind of fights etc. with anybody.

    Please advice.

    Regards,

  • While in all reality it would seem like “rewriting” and giving a link is okay, technically, it is not, unless you’ve completely rewritten the entire thing, so that it can actually be seen as something different.

The fact that you say you give a link, leads me to believe that you’re probably not making enough of a change to count it as something different, so I’d probably say that the original authors would be upset with you.

The thing is that while ideas are not “copyrighted” – the method in which they are expressed is. The wording in which they are expressed is (when put on paper or on the internet). So if you get the idea to post a recipe for pizza crust from another site, that’s okay – but make it your own recipe. If you get the idea to write an article about sewing a shirt from another site, that’s okay, but make it YOUR experience in sewing a shirt.

Right. There’s a difference between writing *about* something you’ve read (and linking to it) and simply trying to rewrite something you’ve read so that it sounds different (even though you link to it).
