• Hi all,

While I’ve been around a long time, I’ve never reached out for general assistance so I apologize if I’m not following certain protocol.

A site I run currently uses PLUGIN:PicasaView which allows me to put a single shortcode on a wordpress page while I update and maintain the photos over on Picasa. Now, Picasa has died and Google Photos has taken over, so managing them is a bit harder. I can’t edit the album properties the way I used to. It’s not ideal in many small ways. But I’ll deal with it if I have to. The API, though, that pulls in the content to my site is what I fear will become obsolete soon, though. So I’ve been thinking about finding other 3rd party image hosters that I can organize into albums and then have the automatically update on my wordpress site. Here’s what I have now:

    Key Features I Like:

    • You can see the title
    • You can see the dates and/or description below
    • I could choose the album covers.

I played with a bunch of Flickr plugins after importing a few albums into a new Flickr account. Most of them did not provide a single code to list out all your albums at once.

The best one was TZ Plus Gallery. But as you can see from the test page, there are some things happening I don’t like.
    https://www.thevillageplayers.com/photos-test/

    • It’s got the title
    • No description, no chance to put the dates of this production on there. BAD.
    • I think I should be able to mess with the album cover on flikr.

It works great, though, and looks decent, too. I just need descriptions on the albums.

I’m not a coder, so I don’t know if I’d be able to fork off a new version or work with the developer to make it happen. but before that happens, does anyone else have any suggestions of “set it and forget it” plugins that will continually display your latest photo albums from some other service (and do it in a clean, pretty way)?

In case you’re wondering why not just import them all into WordPress, it’s just that there are a few hundred photos that I’d rather not bog down my shared server with anymore. Plus, a 3rd party like Google or Flickr allows for re-feeding to other places if by chance the WordPress site goes away and we go back to some other 2-bit pre-packaged website . At least then, all those photos won’t be stuck inside wordpress with no easy way to get them out.

Please, tell me what’s out there. Or tell me an idiot.`
