I’m not a WordPress expert, so I’m not sure if this is a bug or expected.

I recently added FMTC Affiliate Disclosure plugin in order to add disclosure text to my posts with affiliate links. It’s working well, appearing on web pages but not in my RSS feeds. However, I’ve noticed the disclosure is appearing in any SRP entry that I haven’t already created a snippet manually via Yoast. e.g.

Oct 13, 2016 – This article may contain affiliate links – more info. Update November 22, 2016: I’ve finally been un-banned by Twitter. It only took 46 days.

I’m wondering if that is expected behavior, and if there’s some way to have Yoast not include that disclosure or if I’m going to have to edit all my posts manually and set the snippet.

    Any ideas?

Google has received your preferred description (see the cache here). Ultimately Google will, as you have seen, make the final decision on what they show in their search results. You may see a different meta description when the search term does not appear in your meta description. Google converts the meta description to include the user’s search term for optimal click through ratios. Googles own Matt Cutts put together a great video that dissects how snippets work and how they pull from various parts of the page when they deem it necessary.

Due to this being handled on Google’s end, there is little you can do to force Google to display the preferred description. The best advice I can provide, unfortunately, is to try different descriptions. This article provides advice on creating the right description for your site.
