Affiliate links on my blog to Clickbank

Hello’
I was about to set up a blog as a mini site. I was going to send traffic there from articles, then people would read a bit of text from me there and hopefully click through to the clickbank product. Then I came across the follwing quote from an internet marketing “authority”.

“WordPress doesn’t allow affiliate links to be used on their blogs, so making money by hosting a blog on their servers is difficult”

I host my blogs with Hostgator. Or am I just not understanding what’s meant?
