After 2.01 Update, the table cells I edited were empty after saving. I had to revert to an old backup. The new version is not usable currently for me, sadly.

    Hi,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

I haven’t received a report like this before, so my assumption is that this something isolated on your site, or with your browser.

However, I have received a few reports from people using browser extensions like “LanguageTool”. Are you using something like that in your browser? And what browser are you using?

Could you maybe check if you can reproduce this problem on a test site? For that, please click this link. A new WordPress test site with TablePress will then be created, and after a few moments, you should be seeing the TablePress “List of Tables” screen. After you add a new table there, can you edit it normally, or does the same problem with those empty cells happen?

    Regards,
    Tobias

Indeed I have the languagetool extension installed. I am using the latest stable chrome build. I just tried it with your test site and same thing happens. Immediately after typing something into the cells it will state “undefined” and the text is gone.

    Hi,

thanks for the clarification about the undefined. You are also affected by this LanguageTool bug then, i.e. this is not caused by TablePress.

Now, I have heard from two users that previously were affected by this, that a recent LanguageTool has fixed the issue for them (from what I can see, there was an update on Wednesday).

I hope that once your browser updates LanguageTool to that, everything should be working fine again.

In the meantime, I suggest to either turn off LanguageTool when editing tables, or to add your domain to the Extension’s exclude list (in its settings). You would then however also not be able to use in posts or pages. Another user has suggested to then open the site’s WordPress dashboard in a “private” or “incognito” browsing tab (where browser extensions are normally disabled) when wanting to edit tables.

    Regards,
    Tobias

Yes, the problem is LanguageTool in combination with Tablepress. I switched it off and could edit tables just fine. I have manually updated the extension, but the recent update did not resolve the issue for me. So, I am hoping there will be a solution soon. Thanks for the prompt reply and help!
