Hi there, thanks for a great plugin.

We have been using Google Analytics for the last 3 years with no issues. From November/December 2019 GA is no longer collecting data (including realtime data). There has been absolutely NO changes made. We use All in One SEO plugin on www.ads-software.com site and simply use the Google Analytics ID.

Our site has all the latest updates.

    Wordpress 5.3.2
    AIOSEO 3.3.4

Can anyone please shed any light? Thanks very much in advance.

    Hi Linda,

Please check whether your Google Analytics tracking ID is still there in the General Settings menu. When I check your source code, it shows ‘xxx’ where your tracking ID is supposed to be (see https://prnt.sc/qped8q)

    Hi Arnaud
Really appreciate your response. Thank you.
It is true, last night while trying to troubleshoot I put xxx in the tracking ID. I have put the tracking ID back in the place (where it was working before November) under general settings. When you get a moment would you mind checking again for me please?
    Thanks again

It looks good now. You’re good on our end so if the issue still persists, then I would recommend you to post in the support forums for Google Analytics.

Thanks for checking that for us.

I did open a support ticket with Google Analytics who have pointed us in WordPress (AIOSEO) direction. I will certainly continue tying to trouble shoot with them.

We really are at a bit of a loss, as it was working fine for 3+ years. One thing I would like to check with you please, if I was to remove the AIOSEO plugin and then upload it again. What would happen to all the SEO information (SEO Title, SEO Description and SEO Keywords) that we have entered for each page and image?

Also, if you had to take a guess, is there anything from your experience that comes to mind? e.g. Could it be a google ban? new code on the google infrastructure that is not compatible? A filter on some element that you know of that has been updated?
Are there any simple tests that you are aware of that really help pin point where the issue normally resides?

I don’t believe anything has changed with AIOSEO but just to check is there a (newer) recommended approach from your end to get your plugin up and running? and could you share any documentations/video links?

Appreciate any advice and direction that you may have and thanks so much again for checking everything your end.

If you delete the plugin, your settings and SEO data will not disappear as they are stored in your database. If you reinstall the plugin, it will simply use whatever you set previously.

Based on my own experience I’d say that you might be experiencing a bug in Google Analytics. The course I’d recommend you to follow is deleting your property (website) in your Google Analytics account and then verifying it again. However, it’s likely you’ll lose all of your historic data if you do so.

There’s no newer or recommended approach to integrate with Google Analytics; they have been using the same system and methods for years because otherwise they’d break a whole lot of websites each time they’d change something.

    Thank you Arnaud
I really appreciate the time you have taken. Once the solution is found I will post it in this thread.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend
