• Adding to that fun, the only theme that will show the site correctly are the ones I developed it in which is the old default them with the blue colored header, all other themes, the pages that can’t be edited also don’t display the content….pretty weird, since many of the pages that DO display and can be edited have some of the same content….I spent many hours on this and I’m at wits end, tho I see several problems like this in google searches, nothing of the resolutions like killing plugs, concetating (sp?) in wp-config, or changing the debug in wp-config, none of that stuff made a lick of difference…completely frustrated and stymied.

I’d love some help, this is too obscure….

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

I unable edit a page as the page formatting options are not available. At the below it is showing that Word count 0.Plz guide me.

    Hi esmi,

I’m having the same problem as alzabo after upgrading to 3.8 (blank editor screens). I tried all of your suggested solutions and was unable to get to a fix. When I uploaded a fresh download of WordPress 3.8 I just overwrote everything except wp-content, wp-config.php and .htaccess (rather than delete the other stuff first).

My website is a nonprofit organization, https://reconciliationproject.org. If you go to almost any sub-page of the site you’ll also notice that I have the black diamond question marks.

A few other pieces of info:
    – I’ve checked the problem in Chrome and FF (exists in both)
    – adding define(‘SCRIPT_DEBUG’, true); to wp-config did not fix the problem

Thanks for any help you’re able to offer.

@lwilcox101 – as esmi posted, please do not post in other people’s threads.

Sorry – thought it was OK to post if same issue? Will start a separate thread.

101, far as I know it IS ok when you’re having the same issue….

Esmi – I tried your solutions and BTW thank you very much for responding…the problems remain and are have stopped dead in my tracks, as I was planning to migrate to another theme but cannot becaue a large percentage of my material doesn’t show up in other themes…..

This is kinda a huge problem far as I can tell, there’s a pretty major bug somewhere here….

101, far as I know it IS ok when you’re having the same issue….

No that is not correct – as stated int the forum guidelines:

Posting your own topic is smiled upon. Unless you are using the same version of WordPress on the same physical server hosted by the same hosts with the same plugins, theme & configurations as the original poster, do not post in someone else’s thread. Start your own topic.

There aren’t any known bugs in WP 3.8 – if you need additional help, please post a link to your site with ALL plugins deactivated and a default theme active.

    Hi!

So yes, tried those things, site ONLY works correctly with the old default them, all others I’ve tried are broke now….

it’s up with the straight default theme, and plugins folder re-named…

    https://www.stillmusic.com/wordpress

thanx for any insights, this has me hung out to dry….

Sorry, I should have been more clear. “Default” means one of the themes that comes with WP – so twentytwelve, twentythirteen or twentyfourteen. The theme named default is way outdated – so it’s not a good test at all.

So try again, with twentytwelve active and NO plugins.

Ok, I put up 2014, it’s the one I would probably tend towards…the first page works but a lot of the other pages don’t show their content…this is pretty weird. i turned on Akismet but I’ll turn it back off by 9:30amPST Sunday….

Thanx for the heads up about which default to use…

Akismet and all plugs off now, during those few minutes it caught 13 spams….dang…I hope someone’s looking at this, these bots are intense….

Your site seems to be working okay for me. Have you tried clearing your browser cache and cookies or tried another browser?

Do you see anything in the contact or shows areas?
