After 5.3 update gallery photos not displaying correctly

  • After the 5.3 update the gallery photos are displaying in a single column rather than a block format. I use the standard gallery in the Gutenberg editor. I can fix this problem for individual posts and pages by going to the edit page and simply updating the post, but I have hundreds of posts that would need to be updated. Is there a way I can update them all at once? I tried using the multiple post editor in the listing of all posts without success.

    Which is your Gutenberg version?

    With the release of WordPress 5.3, only version 6.6 or newer of the Gutenberg plugin is compatible, so please update the plugin and all should be good.

    I thought Gutenberg was the new editor on WordPress as opposed to the Classic Editor. I don’t have a Gutenberg plugin that I know of, I just use the standard gallery in the wordpress editor. I checked that there were no new updates for my theme and plugins.

    Actually, the block editor (new WP editor) is part of Gutenberg.

    Updates arrive at Gutenberg before they arrive at WP Core (block editor).

    I recommend you to try to deactivate all your plugin, and change your theme to the default Twenty Twenty in order to see if your problem gets fixed.

    Besides that, you can also install the latest Gutenberg version, so you can see if that has already been fixed (in case it is a problem on the block editor).

    I think you may installed a plugin that disable gutenberg from core, then it disabled css of gutenberg for frontend, else there is no problem in update for me.

    It is the theme. The galleries display correctly in 2020 but not in Arcane Pro and I did check for updates.

    I can fix the problem by going into edit for each post and clicking update but that would be very time consuming. I tried bulk editing on the post list page but that doesn’t work. Is there another way to bulk edit?

    I recommend you to contact your theme developers, so maybe they would be able to provide updates. As it is a commercial theme, there is nothing that we can do here.

    About bulk editing, you can find some plugin that would allow you to do that, but I don’t know if they would be enough to fix your theme bugs.
