• I have updated WordPress from version 6.4.3 to 6.5.0. Afterwards, I also updated the Twenty Twenty-Four theme which I use. There were no updates available for the few plugins I installed.

What I am most excited about version 6.5.0 is the use of Google Fonts. On the way to this new font menu, I discovered a disaster in the Style Book.

All text is replaced by the error message “This block has encountered an error and cannot be previewed.”

    What can be done now?

  • It is possible that one of the plugins you are using is affecting the view. Deactivate all plugins as a test. Does it work then?

Thanks for your advice. I have deactivated all plugins, but unfortunately the issue remains.

Strange. I don’t have this problem with any installation.

Have a look under Tools > Site Health to see if any anomalies are mentioned there.

Also have a look in the JavaScript console to see if and which errors can be seen there when calling the style book.

I have the same error. I have disabled all plugins and logged out and in again. My site health is good. What to do?

    @flemse Thanks for your note.

@threadi Since I’m a beginner with WordPress, I don’t know what anomalies are yet. WordPress is accessible in my local network, not on the Internet. That was the plan.

Site Health Info provides a lot of information. You can find the complete log output here.

The JavaScript console is flooded with errors when calling the Style Book. You can find the complete console output here.

I hope that nobody is scared off by the amount of information in the log outputs.

In the JavaScript error junk, there is a note that the Form Block plugin could be causing this. This plugin is active for you. Deactivate it and test it again.

If it still does not work without Form Block, take another look at the JavaScript console.

I have already deactivated the Form Block plugin once, but the issue remained. After that, I reactivated the plugin because it apparently had no effect on the issue.

Then please check the JavaScript Console again with the Form Block deactivated.

I deactivated the Form Block plugin again. As expected, the issue remains. The JavaScript console is once again flooded with errors when calling the Style Book. You can find the complete console output here.

To go one step further, I deactivated all plugins. Unfortunately, as also expected, the issue remains. The JavaScript console is still flooded with errors when calling the Style Book. You can find the complete console output here.

Strange. I have 2 more ideas:

Since you are working locally, do you have a firewall running there that would intercept or filter requests?

And: try reinstalling the WordPress core. To do this, go to Updates below the dashboard in the backend. There is a button “Re-Install”. This will only download the files again, no database changes will be made.

    (@atalanttore)

I have not set up a firewall in the local network. Up to version 6.4, WordPress worked flawlessly across updates.

The “Re-Install” button was not displayed. Instead, an update to version 6.5.2 was displayed. I installed this update instead.

Unfortunately, the issue still remains. You can find the complete console output for the Style Book after updating to WordPress 6.5.2 and all plugins deactivated here.

Last idea: did you tried it with another browser? Or in private window mode?

    (@atalanttore)

I have also tried other browsers and private window mode. Same issue.

However, I overlooked one aspect the whole time. All the browsers I tested are based on Mozilla Firefox.

I installed Chromium for testing purposes. I opened the Style Book in Chromium and everything worked as usual. Nice.

Does this mean that Mozilla Firefox is the cause of this issue?

Do you have an add-on in the Firefox browsers that could influence this? I only use Firefox and have no problems with it.
