• I have updated WordPress from version 6.4.3 to 6.5.0. Afterwards, I also updated the Twenty Twenty-Four theme which I use. There were no updates available for the few plugins I installed.

What I am most excited about version 6.5.0 is the use of Google Fonts. On the way to this new font menu, I discovered a disaster in the Style Book.

All text is replaced by the error message “This block has encountered an error and cannot be previewed.”

    What can be done now?

  • In my case shifting to ms edge and chrome inkognito works – but not normal chrome browser.

The NoScript extension is installed on all my Firefox-based browsers. My WordPress site in the local network does have the highest trust level (“TRUSTED”) in NoScript.

However, if this extension is deactivated, the example text appears in the WordPress 6.5 Style Book instead of error messages.

As mentioned above, WordPress up to version 6.4 worked without any issues with the NoScript Firefox extension.

Since the website editor in WordPress uses a lot of JavaScript and does not run at all without it, this extension obviously bites with the scripts. Since you were using older versions of WordPress, there were probably adjustments in Gutenberg that are now intercepted and suppressed by the extension you are using. Therefore, this no longer works.

I would recommend that you contact the developers of NoScript so that they can adjust the rules in this regard. Of course, you could also contact the Gutenberg team, but I’m not sure if anyone there knows exactly what NoScript does.

The simplest solution for you would be to continue to do without the extension – possibly only when calling up your WordPress project, if this is possible.

For now, I have informed the developers of NoScript about the issue here.

I will deactivate NoScript until the issue is solved.
