After activation in a directory-based multisite, ‘Undefined Offset: 0’ errors occur for some users when logging in. These go away after deactivation of Stream.

Here are some of the errors reported by users:

Undefined offset: 0 in /home/ubrescia/public_html/wp-content/plugins/stream/includes/log.php on line 79.

Undefined index: in /home/ubrescia/public_html/wp-content/plugins/stream/includes/log.php on line 79.

Followed by ‘Cannot modify header information …’ warnings due to the headers already being sent.

And here is an error message I ran into while accessing all users on a site within the multisite:

Undefined offset: 0 in /home/ubrescia/public_html/wp-content/plugins/stream/connectors/users.php on line 193

Could these be related to any known issues with Stream, or are they possibly related to permissions or other server issues?

Any advice on troubleshooting this would be appreciated.

  • Hi bresciauc!

The behavior here seems as if these particular users have no WP user role assigned to them? Up to this point, Stream has always assumed users would have a role.

    1. Can you confirm that these users are, in fact, roleless?
    2. If not, can you tell us what role they do have?

We will get to the bottom of this and release a fix if necessary. Thanks!

    Thanks for the response Frankie!

The users had an Editor role, so the role-less hypothesis probably does not hold in this case. I’ve now re-activated Stream on that site, and will let you know if the errors start to crop up again. If none pop up in the next week or two, then we may need to file this one as a ‘Could not reproduce’ and close the ticket.

Really liking Stream by the way, which I’m using on another multisite as well, without any issues.

Marking this as resolved since Stream 2.0 refactors much of the existing code base.
