After Auto Update To Version 5.5.3 Cannot Access Admin Section

Try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

I used the plugins.hold method and I’m now able to log into the Admin section. However, if I rename it back to “plugins”, then I can’t access the Admin section again.

That being said, how do I go about finding the plugin that’s causing the issue?

After using plugins.hold, all plugins should have disappeared from your plugins list. When you restore it, they should return de-activated. Did you try switching to a generic theme as suggested above? Maybe try it before you restore the file and see if your site works.

You’re correct… The plugins were all deactivated. I also switched to the default theme as you suggested.

I was able to find the problem. It’s the “wp-Monalisa” plugin that was causing the problem.

Problem solved!

I spoke too soon. I’m able to access my Admin section without issue but at the bottom of all of my pages I have the message that states:

Deprecated: Directive ‘allow_url_include’ is deprecated in Unknown on line 0

I’m repeating the process to see which plugin is causing the problem.

I disabled all plugins and the theme but I still get the following on the bottom of all of my web site:

Deprecated: Directive ‘allow_url_include’ is deprecated in Unknown on line 0

As you can see here, all plugins are disabled (and in the corner left you see the error).
