After installation, none of the homepage links work on localhost. Help

My homepage will load, but I get HTTP 404 not found for all other links like categories, posts, etc (except online links that take you to WordPress). So, none of my posts display except the HTTP 404 not found – Internet Explorer cannot display this page.

When I go to my admin panel, I can see that my posts are published. So, no problem there, but nothing but the homepage can be displayed.

I also receive the Gears incompatibility error message.

Please, help. I would greatly appreciate your help.
