I’m working on a site that has 8 main level menu items and quite a few drop-downs & fly-outs. After the most recent WordPress update, I noticed that the last main-level menu item (Contact Us) disappeared.

When I tried to add it back to the menu, it broke the menu on the front end. Instead of showing the main level items, it showed all the pages with their actual titles. It even included pages that were not linked in the menu anywhere. The page titles cascaded down over the slider and below.

To fix it, I had to go into the theme customization area and tell it to use the main menu for primary navigation again. When I did that, the Contact Us item disappeared again, but the rest of the menu looked fine.

So, I tried changing the menu settings to “Add primary navigation automatically”, then I deleted the Contact Us page completely and then created a new one. It worked! The menu bar was intact and included the Contact Us menu item…until I had to do something with the menu again.

Please help. I have a lot more to do on this site and I know I will have to work with the menu a lot. I can’t leave it without a contact page in the main nav. It’s a live site.

    Thanks,
    Katherine

  • Which theme are you using? Latest update: theme or WordPress?
You could also provide the link to your site.

Okay, I actually figured it out after asking more questions from the theme developer (U Design). It turns out that the problem was cause by my max variable settings. I just had to increase them and now everything seems to be working fine.

Still, thanks so much for your quick response!
