    Think I may have posted in under the wring category so will repost here;
    Hoping someone can help. Am brand new to wordpress but have successfully installed on my windows 2003 server using iis, php 5 and the latest mysql.

    However most of the options in the admin portal do not seem to work, the help and screen options dont work, themes cannot be edited, text being typed is white and cannot be seen until published, etc.

    I have gone through alot of the forum posts but nothign seems to help, I have tried making additions to the wp-conifg such as the concatenate scripts and debug tags and even tried completely removing mysql and reinstalling both that and wordpress but no joy.

    will add that wordpress version is 3.5.1

    Is this a java problem ? I have tried it now on 3 different machines, 2 windows 7 laptops and one Imac, using browsers safari, firefox and ie, all latest versions, some with java v7 and some with v6, but no joy.
    many thanks.

  • Hi Elchampo,

    A windows enviroment isn’t ideal for WordPress as, WordPress with written in PHP. A Linux OS would be much better for this.

    However WordPress will still run, but some features may not. For example CURL.

    Kind regards

    Hi Jamie
    Thanks for update. Excuse my ignorance but what is CURL ? I have a friend who is running wordpress fine on windows 2008 after a troublesome install on Linux was abandoned, which is why I went for windows. Is there nothing that can be tweaked to make things work on Windows?
    Thanks

    is CURL the command line tool?

    HI
    Just to update, my colleague suggested using Microsoft Web Platform installer which has WordPress listed as supported application, and this has cured all the problem, so wordpress is working perfectly in my windows environment.
    Thanks for the assistance anyway
    Regards
