  • @ladan,

After I click SmushIt Now, then it says no savings. What does that mean?

This generally mean the image was such that the Smush.it service was not able to reduce the size of the image. The Yahoo! Smush.it service tries to remove some of the image meta information in order to reduce the physical size of the image. This is not the same as the image height and width.

Then sometimes, on another one for example, it says reduced by 4% and it has the option to re-smush, and then when I do that, it still stays the same. Why?

Normally, once the image is processed via the Smush.it service this plugin will replace the image on your site with the smaller image provided by the service. It will report the percentage reduction of the image. But the image cannot be reprocessed.

Thank you for your reply. So when you say This generally mean the image was such that the Smush.it service was not able to reduce the size of the image. What do you mean by that? how is the image and why it won’t be able to reduce the size? Thanks

    Hi @ladan

There is more info on the service here: https://developer.yahoo.com/yslow/smushit/faq.html

The image may already be optimized or may not be optimizable for some reason. Or it might not be in a supported format.
