Thanks to the author for providing a great plugin.

Now, Version: After updating to 6.0.0, it stopped working.

I’m using WordPress Popular Posts in the following environment, but after updating the plugin to version: 6.0.0, the list disappears.

    Enable Classic Widgets
    WordPress 6.0, PHP 7.4

I had no choice but to roll back to the previous version, 5.5.1.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @senribb,

Thanks for the report (and for the kind words, I’m glad you like my plugin!)

Just tried WPP with WordPress 6.0 and the Classic Widgets (also using PHP 7.4 here) on a clean WordPress install (only the Classic Widgets plugin and WPP are enabled) and the popular post list loads fine here.

This test was done with the Twenty Twenty One theme, stock widget settings.

I also ran this same test before releasing version 6.0 and found no issues, hence why it was released ??

Anyways, could you please upgrade to 6.0 again and check for errors on your browser console, and also on your debug.log file? (See WP_DEBUG and WP_DEBUG_LOG for more details).

    Hello, Héctor

Thank you for your prompt reply.
As your instructed, I put it in debug mode, ran it with version 6.0, and then took the WordPress debug log.
The contents are as stated below:

By the way, I recently changed all the collations and codes in the DB table from uft8mb3_general_ci to uft8mb4_general_ci.
Sorry, Can you think of that effect?

Could you please also share a screenshot of the settings you’re using with the WordPress Popular Posts widget before you downgrade to version 5.5.1?

    Alright, thanks.

    Please try this:

    1. Update to version 6.0.0 if you haven’t already.
    2. Go to Appearance > Widgets > [Your Sidebar] > WordPress Popular Posts.
    3. Change any of the settings from the widget, save changes, then changes the widget settings back to how they were before and save changes again.
    4. Check on your site and see if your popular posts list is loading.
    5. Come back here and report your results.

    I did it as instructed,
but unfortunately the widget didn’t show up.

Therefore, it will roll back again.

Alright, thanks for testing. Not sure what’s causing that issue as in theory it shouldn’t happen but I found a way to “fix” it. I’ll push an update as soon as possible.

It’s probably quite late for you right now but when you get the chance @senribb please:

    1. Download the development version of the plugin.
    2. Go to Plugins > Add New, then click on the Upload Plugin button.
    3. Select the zip file you just downloaded and click on Install Now.
    4. WordPress will detect that the plugin is already installed. Click on “Replace current with uploaded”.
    5. When it’s done, check whether your popular posts list is loading or not and leave a comment here to report back your results.

    Thanks in advance!
