    Hi there,

I am actually using Colorlib free WP theme

After updating WordPress to the latest version (4.8.1) I wasn’t able anymore to:
    – create or edit posts (also delete)
    – edit my personalization view (I click on save and post but nothing happens)

    I tried:
    – pausing all my plugins. Wasn’t fixed.
    – creating another admin user. Wasn’t fixed.
    – deleting my explorer cache. Wasn’t fixed.
    – rebooting my computer (haha I’m desperated). Wasn’t fixed.

I checked “wp-content” folder permissions an they are setted to 755. Also tried to change the permissions, saved, and came back to the permissions that it had before (755). Wasn’t fixed.

    Any help here please? =)

Try switching to the Twenty Seventeen theme to rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

If that makes no difference, try downloading WordPress again, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, and delete then replace your copies of everything on the server except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings.

Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.

I switched to Twenty Seventeen but an error page shows up after I activate the theme.
After I refresh the browser the new theme is active.
I switched again to the original theme (Colorlib) and again an error page, but after refreshing the browser the theme appears active.

The error page says “the page does not exist”.

I will try downloading WordPress and reinstalling again as you said and I will come back with my feedback.

    Thanks!

    Hi.

I deleted everything but wp-content and wp-config and it still has the same problem:
    I wasn’t able anymore to:
    – create or edit posts (also delete)
    – edit my personalization view (I click on save and post but nothing happens)

    Any recommendation?

Let’s rule-out the browser next. First, please make sure that your browser is up to date by visiting https://whatbrowser.org/

If it is not, please try updating your browser or switching to a different browser.

If it is, please do these two things:

    1. Try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies.

    2. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.

Please let us know how each step goes for you, and which browser (and version of) you’re using if you’re still having trouble.

I checked all my browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox) and they are all up to date.
I tried deleting one of my posts and none of them letted me do this task. Chrome and Edge shows an HTTP 500 ERROR page and Firexfox shows up a blank page (I guess it’s the same error but with a blank page).

I also cleared all my browser cookies, cache and else in Chrome, and nothing happens.
Firefox and Edge were installed today just to try another browser but as I explained some sentences ago they did not work.

Then I disabled all my Chrome Extensions and it is still not working.

Note: I tried all of these without my WordPress plugins turned on.

    I am starting to worry.
    Looking forward to your comments.

Internal server errors (error 500) are often caused by plugin or theme function conflicts, but if resetting your plugins and theme made no difference, it’s possible that a .htaccess rule could be the source of the problem. To check for this, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, and rename the .htaccess file. If you can’t find a .htaccess file, make sure that you have set your SFTP or FTP client to view invisible files.

If you weren’t able to resolve the issue by either resetting your plugins and theme or renaming your .htaccess file, we may be able to help, but we’ll need a more detailed error message. Internal server errors are usually described in more detail in the server error log. If you have access to your server error log, generate the error again, note the date and time, then immediately check your server error log for any errors that occurred during that specific time period. If you don’t have access to your server error log, ask your hosting provider to look for you.

    Hi there,

This is all my htacces says:
    AddHandler x-httpd-php5-6 .php

Which name should I rewrite the hta?

    Moderator James Huff

    (@macmanx)

I usually like to just renamed .htaccess to htaccess (remove the dot). It’s simply, easy to undo, and effectively “breaks” the file so you can see if it’s the cause of the problem or not.

    Hi!

I’ve just renamed the file and nothing different happened. Same errors when I try to do somethng.

    I’ve just fixed this.

I disabled all my plugins, re-installed wordpress (or reutdated it) and then I turned on all plugins I was using before.

Note: In the middle I also changed from one permalink option to the other.
Note 2: htaccess was “disabled” as it was renamed without the “dot” like this > “htaccess”. After all the process that I explained before I renamed it as “.htaccess” again an it was still working.

Hope this helps to anyone that has the same problem.
    PB
