after upgrade to 2.8.8 slider doesnt work

and gives the folowing message:
“Notice: Uninitialized string offset: 1 in /MY-PATH/wp-content/plugins/smooth-slider/css/skins/default/functions.php on line 37”
it also doesnt show preview (also with the above message) in the admin.php?page=smooth-slider-settings page
