• After you upgrade your .71 WP to .72b1 (the first release, i still haven’t added the CVS updates, it’s been down) is it possible to delete files that are not needed? and if it possible, which files would you delete? Thanks.

  • Scooter,
I haven’t installed the released beta yet, but I’m running 2 1/2 week old CVS code. my workaround to your question was to simply delete my entire WordPress directory from my webserver, upload the new version and run the upgrade script. This way, no old versions are left behind by accident. Just be sure to backup your old stuff first, such as your CSS template(s) and your index file if you’ve customized it. The SQL databse will be upgraded when you run the upgrade script. Worked flawlessly for me when I upgraded 4 blogs hosted on my server, if you can stand the 3~5 minute downtime from the point you delete to finish the installation.
    Hope this helps!
