After uploading 2.5, WP remains on upgrade page

The upgrade page tells me the WP database needs to be updated. Will this resolve on its own or am I missing a step? It’d be a shame if I am, because I’ve been staring at it off and on for over an hour.

This page also returns when I try to log in the admin section.

Please advise.
