After WEBP creation Original image files missing
-
Hi There,
I am a experienced wordpress publisher and I have a problem that I CAN’T solve.
recently I have noted that randonmly many of my ORIGINAL image files are MISSING from the /uploads folder.Example : https://www.wikigrewal.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/The-burning-monk-1963.jpg
IF you open above post link in SAFARI then you will see, what I am talking about, since safari doesn’t support WEBP , randomly ,many of my images are missing. If I DELETE the webp file then the image file shows BLANK in Image Library. I deleted all the WEBP images (i use a plugin), then half of images were blanked out permanently in posts. I can confirm , original image files are missing in UPLOAD folder. But I can recreate all the WEBP images again… I wonder how can I do that when original file is misisng ?
Text editor in post says
[caption id="attachment_49274" align="aligncenter" width="662"]<img class="size-large wp-image-49274" src="https://wikigrewal.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/The-burning-monk-1963.jpg" alt="In June of 1963, Vietnamese Mahayana Buddhist monk Thích Quang Duc burned himself to death at a busy intersection in Saigon." width="662" height="430" /> In June of 1963, Vietnamese Mahayana Buddhist monk Thích Quang Duc burned himself to death at a busy intersection in Saigon.[/caption]
A WEBP image is intact for all images.
– When I run a FORCE THUMBNAIL pluign, it regenerates some of them and say rest are missing. I have around 6000 post images
– I have checked by right clicking each image OPEN IMAGE IN NEW WINDOW, it opens as WEBP, but the original source image is missing from the upload folder
– Intrestingly all the thubnails versions like image1024x640.jpg & image300x200.jpg are all there just the image.jpg is missing but image.jpg.webp is there
– now when I edit concerned post I can see in the html it still reads poinitng to image.jpg , but in the actual wordpress ploads folder that file is missing
– How can I get the original images backThank You
