After WordPress website migration: missing images from posts?

Hello

I migrated my blog over to a new, fresh setup on a different host. I installed the new theme, which works fine

I exported my posts from the old blog and imported them into the new one. This worked… mainly

But I have one problem, it didn’t seem to import the images. So each article that makes reference to an image comes up as a grey box with the blue questionmark

I copied the images from wp-content/uploads to my new migrated wp-content/uploads directory, but this didn’t help

Can’t seem to find anything concise on the net so I wondered if anyone could advise?
