Age Gage not working with some browsers

  • We received a report that Age Gate was not taking readers to the page after they answered the questions. This began after the most recent update.

    I am an administrator of the site, and have previously answered the challenge correctly in Microsoft Edge, GoogleChrome, Safari, etc. on my laptop and iPhone and can access the age-restricted content. Though this problem has been reported to us when using Safari and GoogleChrome on an iPhone.

    I had previously not checked ‘remember me’ when using MozillaFirefox so I could use it as a test site. I was able to recreate the reported problem using MozillaFirefox, I answered the challenge correctly and AgeGate took me back to the home page, not the story that was restricted. In the same session, I answered AgeGate and again it takes me back to the home page and not the story.

    For new readers to our site, it appears if they have not previously answered AgeGate, they will not be able to access our Age-Restricted content.

    I’m not sure what has changed or what setting we need to correct to allow our ‘of age’ members to view these posts.

    Hi @bluewindfarm,

    We had to make some changes to the redirection after age gate passed. I think there’s two things you can try to rectify it.

    1. Update your permalinks to be “clean” (I think we’re not expecting a “?p=id” structure)

    2. If you can’t do the above for whatever reason, switch Age Gate into Javascript mode in the advanced settings and it should be ok.
