I recently installed and set up Age Gate on my site, which is also running the Varnish HTTP Purge plugin for caching and aMember Pro membership software.

Based on the information provided in the Age Gate settings, I activated the “Cache Bypass” version. I later realized I was having a Javascript issue on my admin dashboard which made it impossible for me to update my site with new content. aMember support explained that this was due to the Age Gate plugin and Varnish Cache. They said that it blocked access to aMember assets, and when I tested it, it seemed to be accurate information.

I really like the Age Gate plugin, so I toyed around with the settings to see if I could correct the Javascript issue by switching to the “Standard” version instead of “Cache Bypass”. The Javascript issue seems to be fixed when I do this, but I’m wondering how using the standard version with a caching plugin could adversely affect the age gate?

    Hi @aylaex,

Sorry for the really slow response!

Using Standard will normally get people stuck in an infinite age gate where they can never get to the content.

I find it surprising the age gate would block any other content, did you get any errors in the console you could post? I’m not familiar with aMember so any info you can give would be great

    Thanks
    Phil
