Age Verification when sharing with Facebook

    Hello, I have come across a bug/issue when attempting to share an unrestricted page/post using a sharing plugin to share the page/post link on Facebook. The sharing plugin pops-up a modal dialog showing the preview share card (after login to FB) with Age Verification as the title and the logo selected from the Age Gate plugin.

    I initially was using the All Content option in the Age Gate settings but have switched to “Selected Content” in order to be able ti use the share function, and the specific page/post does not have the restriction checkbox checked. While the page/post is accessible on the front end, Age Gate is overriding the Facebook share function. The

    The specific social sharing plugin I’m using is AddToAny Share Buttons – https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/add-to-any/

    Any idea how to get around the issue? I have not yet tested out any other social sharing plugin.

    Sorry, I didn’t notice that another user already inquired about this recently but had their subject title regarding titles not working.

    I saw your response and I have installed the Yoast SEO plugin, enabled Advanced Settings with the social metadata options. This enables the social settings on my page and I can then manually set the Facebook title. The sharing plugin then picks up the appropriate description and preview image.

    Hi Frank,

    Thats an interesting one, not sure why that would happen. I’ll have to check and see if there’s a way to know that it’s Facebook (or twitter etc) requesting the page.

    I did have a similar question the other day on this, and in some of my test found that if you explicitly set the open graph data it gives the right title. There’s a couple of plugins that do that, such as Yoast (though it’s a bit hidden) and WPSSO. Might be worth giving them a try while I look to see if there’s a fix I can build in.
