Aggressive Competition using www.ads-software.com for defamation

    An agressive Competitor has slandered me and my business using my own name with a .com at the end. For nearly a year as a www.ads-software.com blog and i’ve lost and lost and lost business & reputation. I am innocent of what have been said or things have been put in the wrong context to sound bad and to damage. They have found the only 2 places in the world where innocent people can get damaged for Life: Facebook and www.ads-software.com and used them to hurt, destroy someone with ultimate violence.
    I managed to have posts deleted on Facebook and that took a few weeks but WordPress seem to prefer freedom of speech and cannot be contacted apparently. The blog is [ redacted ] and every month they tell the world how i change my business/ways to survive and fight them as competitor. This could go on for Life and some would have already ended theirs with such a situation where apparently nothing can be done. Even the Police is on my side but can’t do much. I could sue them but if www.ads-software.com won’t help, why would they do what they are asked, they could even remove it and put it back a month later, wasting lots of money everytime. I really need advice here as in the uk we only have one year to do something about online defamation. Things have to be done or every nasty agressive competitor in the world might soon find out and create chaos on www.ads-software.com. Hopefully things don’t get to that stage. Please help if a Life is more important to you than freedom of speech. If i get ignored i will find other ways that i tried to avoid until now such as Newspaper press as I really don’t have much left to loose…

    www.ads-software.com does not providing hosting for sites, it provides the software for other people to use their own sites on their own hosts. WordPress’s philosophy and bill of rights permit people to use WordPress software for any reason they want, without any enforcement over legality or illegality. We leave that up to the webhosts. In cases of theft, abuse, harassment, or other such behavior, your best recourse is to contact their web host directly. You can use WHOIS to determine where they’re hosted, as well as resources like https://www.whoishostingthis.com to find relevant information. As far as I can see, the site about which you’ve complained is hosted by Dreamhost.

    Hi @jamestonypianco I’m sorry but this place (www.ads-software.com) has nothing to do with self-hosted WordPress installations. This place only distributes the software that makes it possible to host your own websites and/or blogs.

    I’ve redacted the URL to that site and while I wish you the best of luck, no one here can help you. It really is up to you to identify the host and owner and deal with them directly. The link that Steve lefty can assist you with that.

    Caveat here: I work for DreamHost

    You can contact DreamHost abuse at [email protected] and the legal team can have a look and see what they can do. If the police are on your side, then you MAY have a good case, but you’ll have to provide some documentation. Keep in mind, DH is pretty firm on freedom of speech, so unless what this other site is doing is actually illegal in the state of California, it’s likely to stay. (Yes that means we host some sites I find really distasteful but that’s what freedom is about – allowing the other guy his legal rights too.)
