I have been trying to change the .ftaccess so that I could change the permalinks and also do some editing of the theme I have chosen but now when I go to my site there is nothing there!!!

I created an .ftaccess file and copied in the info from the admin options page and then uploaded it. Ever since I have not been able to see my blog or anything??? Help!!! I’ve tried deleting the file I created but it doesn’t seem to have helped.

    IT HAS NOW REAPPEARED!!!

I guess deleting the file I created worked but I’m not sure what I did wrong? Am now going to try changing the permissions in a different way…

Well, from what I can tell, with the link you wrote above, your site is still there…

But just to be sure : If you created a .ftaccess file, it surely wont works… the file should be named .htaccess…

Yeah the site seems to have reappeared now since I deleted the .htaccess (typo above, sorry) file which I uploaded. I’m not sure what went wrong. I created the file in text edit and simply copied the text over from the permalinks page but when uploaded it seemed to stop me accessing anything?

I just tried changing the permissions to 777 directly on my hosting provider page but it still comes up with the message ‘if this file were writable…’ when i’m on the permalinks page.

Not sure what I’m doing wrong?

I have just repeated the steps again and created another .htaccess file containing the text from the options page but my site has disappeared again? I am really confused… any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
