a:hover not working on pages that have embedded video

https://ericbrockmanwebsites.com/dev/reels/documentary-drama/documentary-drama-reel/On pages where there is video embedded it seems that I have to click my mouse once (on anything) before the page starts actually working.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
