    Hi,
the plugin keeps getting errors by losing/forgetting the Ahrefs authorization code.

If I try to get a new code and click on “Get my authorization code” the new page opens, I click on the captcha and… nothing happens.
    So I can’t get a new code.

    Please help!

    Thanks
    Heike

  • Hi Heike,

If you’re a free user, the token actually expires in a couple of days so you will have to re-authorize the connection. As for the captcha, it is designed to prevent too many clicks over a short period of time.

Unfortunately, we had to implement these measures to prevent abuse of our API, which contains lots valuable data that we’ve spent quite a bit of resources gathering.

The best way forward is to sign up as a user if you find the data useful or if you wish to continue as a free user, to wait a couple of days before re-authorizing your site.

    I hope this makes sense!

    Hi Justin,
    thanks for clarifying this.

Maybe it would be a good idea to add that to the FAQ?

“Can I use the plugin if I am not a paying customer of Ahrefs?
Yes you can. You will be able to perform a full content audit for your site only.”

    Best regards
    Heike
