AI1EC suddenly slow when saving anything in WP

    I have 15 sites that use AI1EC 3.0.0 and all of them suddenly started having problems. Saving anything (posts, pages, menus, etc) takes forever and usually results in a 504 Gateway Timeout. CPU time usage goes through the roof. Even navigating through the WP admin dashboard is slow. Deactivating AI1EC makes the problems go away. Help!

  • I’m having a similar issue.
    It seems plugin is making requests to https://update.time.ly/update/{some_random_key} and https://checkout.time.ly/update/{some_random_key} and those requests timeout for some reason. It tries to do that for 15 seconds and after that timeout occurs.
    Seems to be something to with how WordPress function wp_remote_get() does the request because that URL in browser is successful and with raw PHP cURL function it also functions well.
    Not sure, just guessing

    Beginning about 3 days ago, I have also noticed a dramatic slowing down of my site (https://mitzicowell.com), which was fixed when I deactivated AI1EC.

    In addition, I use ManageWP to connect to all my websites and it was no longer able to connect to this site suddenly about 3 days ago. This issue was also resolved when I deactivated AI1EC.

    The problem suddenly went away yesterday. Looks like time.ly fixed whatever was wrong with their server so when the plugin phones home it doesn’t timeout. I also use ManageWP and all the AI1EC sites were disconnected over the weekend — they are now back.

    @paul-hartman Thanks for sharing that, Paul! So I re-activated AI1EC on that site to test it – and it really does seems to be working again. ManageWP hasn’t disconnected for over an hour, and the site is also no longer ridiculously sluggish. So maybe it’s fixed!
