Hi Ken,

The issue with the shortlink sounds like a Jetpack issue so you will need to contact them about that.

With regards to the OG:Description, Facebook is picking up the OG:Description you set. You can test this by running that post through the Facebook debug tool – https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug

Make sure to click the Fetch new scrape information because Facebook does cache meta that it picks up from crawling sites.

However, I don’t believe the OG:Description that Facebook is picking up is the one I manually defined. Per the following excerpts, my page’s source code has conflicting tags, with the first one being what I want used:

Facebook is picking up the correct OG description as per your source code here:

However, you have duplicate Open Graph meta on your site now. The duplicate meta is being output by Jetpack so you need to check the Disable Jetpack tags option – https://semperplugins.com/documentation/social-meta-module/#disablejetpacktags

Per my previous message, I have AIOSEOP’s “Disable Jetpack Tags” option checked. AIOSEOP’s “Scan Social Meta” feature finds no duplicate tags, despite source code to the contrary.

Hi Ken,

The duplicate OG meta from Jetpack was not there an hour ago when I first checked your site. Make sure you haven’t changed anything and make sure you clear the caches in WP Super Cache and then disable all caching and minification. Then deactivate All in One SEO Pack and Jetpack ad reactivate them.

Here’s what I just did:

1. Cleared WP Super Cache.
2. Disabled AIOSEOP & Jetpack.
3. Reenabled AIOSEP & Jetpack.
4. Cleared WP Cache.
5. Confirmed the Social Meta module scan found no duplicate tags.

I still see Jetpack’s OG tags in the post’s source code.

We cannot replicate this issue on any site here and we’ve had no other reports of problems with the Disable Jetpack tags option. We’ve also worked with the developers of Jetpack to make sure that option works.

The problem is fixed, it was your caching. As soon as we cleared the cache the Jetpack meta went away.

Thank you, sir. Is there some way to clear the cache other than going to the WP Super Cache Settings > Contents tab and clicking Delete Cache? Because that’s what I did many times during these tests.

No, that is the correct method but sometimes it doesn’t always work first time.

Which is why I did it twice in my numbered list above… how strange. Well, sorry to cause such a kerfuffle over a minor issue. I appreciate your patience and support!
