Ajax Add to Cart not working with file upload

When ‘ajax add to cart’ is switched on, the file upload field doesn’t work. It gives an error saying File Upload is a required field. If I turn off ‘ajax add to cart’ then it works fine. It used to work with ajax on up until a few weeks or months ago.
