    Heya there,

Ive a question about that Ajax Feature for WPP. If i visit my Site or Fetch it as Google Bot it shows me the Stats and Popular Posts. But if i look into the Google Cache the Widget just Shows “Loading”. So is the Google Crawler crawling these Links in the WPP Widget with Ajax activated or should i switch to the Non-Ajax Version ?

    Sincerely,

    Stefan

    Hi Stefan!

While slightly off-topic as Google’s ability to crawl WPP’s links is SEO territory, it’s still an interesting question.

As far as I know, Googlebot is capable of parsing and executing JavaScript code so in theory it should be able to read and crawl the links from any content loaded via AJAX without problems. Assuming of course you didn’t block access to JS files via robots.txt.

Search Engine Land ran some tests to check how Googlebot crawls JavaScript content and their findings are pretty much consistent with what I stated above.

Additionally, I read an interesting comment on reddit about the matter:

Google seeing your content loaded via JavaScript does depend on how quick your page loads however!

I believe I read the guys from Screaming Frog did some tests and found Google waits about 6 seconds for content to render.

According to this topic on Google’s Webmaster Central Help Forum that seems to be the case, so you should do whatever you can to make sure your site loads as fast as possible. Varvy’s page speed optimization guide is a good place to start.

    Hope that helps!
