    Hi,

Thank you very much for making the plugin available. I am hosting my site on wpengine, the wpengine hosting has a very strict policy regarding ajax calls not going via cache and we can’t get around using Apache because it has to process the PHP requests – it’s not a cacheable service.

it’s possible we can stop it making all those requests unless a chat has been activated. At the moment, the chat plugin sets up a 5s poll of that PHP script regardless of whether you have activated a chat or not

Hello @nfsarmento, I trust you are doing well!

By default, the chat sessions poll is set at the Plugin Ajax. It is possible to change the calling source type between the Plugin Ajax and the WordPress AJAX, but only with the premium version of the plugin.

You can signup for 15 days trial to try the premium version.

    Kind regards,
    Nastia

Hi thank you for replying to my question.
Yeh we changed that already – previously it was set to call admin-ajax.php which is resource intensive, but it’s now set to the plugin’s own script which is better, but still creates lots of ajax calls that WPE don’t like, is there anything else we can do ?

    Hello @nfsarmento,

Usually, we do not provide support for a premium version here, but you could go to Chat > Settings Common and on the first tab ‘Poll Interval’ you can control how often the AJAX is made.

And to reduce Ajax calls, you could disable script on some URLs, where chat is not appearing ( also with premium version), in Chat > Settings Common > Blocked URLs tab

If you have more questions regarding WordPress Chat Pro version, please post these in WPMU DEV forums, someone from our staff will answer to you ASAP.

Have a nice day and take care.

    Cheers,
    Nastia
