  • I get this error too – any luck on finding the problem? Also, when manually adding points into the table, it doesn’t add the new points to the total, it replaces the points that were in previously with what I’ve typed?

What version are you guys running? Sounds like there are a few of you with this problem that I can’t seem to duplicate, but need to track down…

    I’m running 3.8.8

@dramsell, you’re getting the Ajax error on saving with 3.8.8? What ‘sport’ are you using in preferences? Have you made any modifications to any of the files or are you using 3.8.8 as downloaded? (I’m sure I know the answer to that question, but have to ask…)

Just as an FYI, the way the ‘points’ works is if you add a point, that number remains, if you want to add two points you put ‘2’, otherwise you’d lose track of how many points the team has actually earned. In other words, if a team has 8 wins and 2 ties and gets 2 points for a win and 1 for a tie, they should have 18 points. If you add a point to their total to bump them in the standings, then need to do it again, you won’t have a clear record of how many points you added to their total, even though it’s simple math. By keeping the total number of ‘extra points’ clear in the ‘+/- Points’ field, you always know how many have been added.

At least that’s my take on why it works the way it does, keep in mind that I didn’t write that code…

    Hi LaMonte,

The sport I am using is “Other” and no modifications have been made. Just to ensure that, I have downloaded (3.8.8.1) and copied that over my current installation – so if any modifications were made – they no longer exist.

2 of my 3 league tables also do not sort properly?

The ‘Other’ sport sorts like this:

points (points scored in a match)
    done (number of games completed)
diff (points for – points against)

If that’s not how you want your standings sorted, and I’m guessing you don’t, you should select another ‘sport’ or use ‘user defined’ so you can determine the number of points awarded for wins, draws, and losses.

The Ajax error is the bigger problem here though…

The 3 tables I have are for exactly the same sport (of which I’ve used “Other”). The 3 leagues are setup exactly the same.
    – League 1’s table works perfectly.
    – League 2’s table, most of it works, but it appears 1 or 2 of the teams don’t move into the correct position on the table according to their points.
    – League 3’s table doesn’t sort at all

If you’d like to take a look at the site, it may make more sense, let me know and I can send you the link (I’m not sure if we’re allowed to post URL’s here?)

    Thanks again for your help!

Yeah, I’d like to have a look if I can please. If you can give me temp admin access to ‘look under the hood’, that would be ideal. What I’d like to do is add a test league with some teams and see if I can track down the Ajax issue.

You can send the URL to the site the lamontef (at) yahoo (.) com.

    Thanks
