No doubt some poorly coded plugin is breaking the JSON response by adding its own code – won’t be the first time I’ve seen this.

Added a workaround in 2.5.2 – basically wrapping the ajax response in some <!–COMMENTS–> and parsing that in the JS code. Should work around this issue.

@mortydot, leaving bad reviews as ‘hostage’ to get issues fixed is really shitty. Just sayin.

    Thanks Mike

I can confirm that version 2.5.2 works perfectly on my site

I have tested with Google Chrome, IE 10, Firefox 19.0.2 and Safari 5.1.7

Great to have this Wonderful plugin working again ??

latest does NOT work on our site

just to let you know we are using safari 5.0.6 and firefox 16.0.2 as we are still on OSX 10.5.8

@mike, problem is still there for us. We see that it can give trouble when using wpsupercache. Clearing old cache after the update does not work. Also one site it works, other it does not.

Suggestion; force a full redirect to the login screen with the username and password as post data when undefined error appears? Its a work around, but better than the undefined message.

Note about the review: its a 4 week old bug. We feel forced to inform other users about the state of the plug-in. Also the reason with the post topic so people can read the reason of the review and the suggestion when we change it.

Please don’t feel assaulted. See it more like a duty to the WP community to share experience of the current state of a plug-in (what is broken for us now). When you have the plug-in working (let me know how we can assist in any way), than we are also willing to make a small donation.

@mortydot – when you say site, do you mean a site on your multisite install, or something separate? TBH I’ve not really checked multisite as I never use it. And is it mutlsite + caching, or multisite without?

And users can see this topic if they get the issue (not everyone has the issue remember).

    @scruffy

For the record I use W3 Total Cache and have no problems now after update

@mortydot Perhaps you should try it instead of Super cache? and see if problem persists

+1. You never know, SuperCache might be interfering with AJAX posts. I know W3 Total Cache ignores AJAX events.

@mike @sared, yes multisite. Point is that one sub-site works, other not. And the problem sub-site sometimes has the problem and sometimes not.

Perhaps a idea to force a full page redirect to the wp-login.php with the login data included when the ‘undefined’ shows up? I think its a good fallback solution that is more user friendly than a undefined message.

WP Super cache should also supports Ajax, but if we can find a bug there, I think we should locate it (just the Ajax response that confirms its that plugin), and report it to them. I think they would appreciate it ??

Please let me know how you think about the fall-back solution above. Kinds regards, and keep up the good work! Sven

mortydot – tried multisite locally with super cache and faced no issues here. Are you certain there are no other plugins *on that site* breaking this? It only takes 1 bit of code, or a theme, to hook into ajax and prevent the response being returned. Otherwise I’ll need access to debug this so email me.

You have been contacted with a possible fix. Please keep us updated, thanks in advantage.

Same problem here. Please don’t focus too hard on on any cache plugin, because I’m using none.

I haven’t added any plugins after I updated to 2.5.2 and there is where the problem started.

Btw, the refresh doesn’t work. When I press F5 it show OK on the page.

Just to add a data point we have multiple multisite instances with 2.5.2 installed, in both WP 3.5.1 and WP 3.6 beta 2, and we haven’t seen this problem. Based on problems I’ve seen with other WP plugins I suspect there’s a plugin throwing javascript errors which screws up the AJAX functionality of this plugin. It wouldn’t be the first time nor the last.

For what it is worth, here are my active plugins. If 3 other people also do this then we can try and find out whether it’s a plugin thing…
