    Hi Hans,

The 3 spam protection methods available are:
    1. CaptCha!
This through the years has become “Captcha by BestWebSoft”, it works on my development machine, it does not work (for some reason I do not know) on a new site I am building.
    2. Math Comment Spam Protection
This was last updated 6 years ago, so sooner or later, it will break.
    3. WP-reCAPCHA
This is simply a non-existent plugin.

As all 3 methods have problems, I am suggesting to please consider the inclusion of the Akismet plugin.

    Best regards,
    Kostas

    Hello kostas,

thanks for your hints. I was not aware that wp-recaptcha is not longer on the archives. I will take care about this.

Can Akismet create a captcha for cfomments? Never heard this.
    Did you try it?

    Hello Hans,

Akismet does not create a captcha field, it is a service running on another server, a plugin needs to communicate with and then wait (in real time) for a response.
I have found a good description here.
Also official Akismet docs are here.

Akismet is very popular for non-for-profit sites, as is free.
Please consider integrating it with wp-greet.

    Thank you,
    Kostas

Ah I see, in this case I think Akismet is already integrated.
If you activate it it will send all comments to this server and check it for spam. wp-monalisa will not stop this. So it should work out of the box.

    Did you try it?

Well, I activated Akismet, put the word “viagra” in the message, pressed Preview and I got Error 403 Forbidden, so it seems it works out of the box (if that is expected bahaviour).

The strange thing is, I get the same behaviour, even if I deactivate Akismet!

Well, actually I would say a 403 is not a valid answer. Anyway, a captcha makes sure a human sends the input Akismet would stop sending cards using some buzz words or spam. Right?

The 403 is something different depengin on your setup.

Yes, I think you are right.

    So what are you suggesting?

After checking how Akismet work, I must say it is against euopean data privacy laws to send the contents of comments or greet cards outside the country, so Akismet is not an alternative for the package.

If you want me to integrate only for you.
Send me an email and we can find out if we find an arrangement suitable for both of us.

I will take care about the captcha thing
Math and Captcha! seems to work for me out of the box but I will look for something mor convenient, maybe an own simple captcha module.

OK, I ‘ll stick to the current (and maybe future) spam protection methods and report any specific problems that I may find.

    Thanks anyway,
    Kostas
