• Akismet is blocking my own comments on my own blog, the other blogs I host, and every other wordpress blog in the world. I guess, for some godforsaken reason, it thinks that I am a spammer, which I most certainly am not. The only spam I am involved with is the deluge I receive every day. So it’s maddening to have this problem. My primary url is https://wallstreetexaminer.com . Is it blacklisted for some reason?

I have tried contacting Matt Mullenweg to beg for help, but apparently the spam blockers are even stopping my email. If anyone out there works on Akismet and can fix this for me, I’d really appreciate it.

    SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!

  • Ironically, we use Akismet here on the forums… and you were blocked! (I un-blocked).

As Akismet is a sep. product, best I can suggest is to use their contact form: https://akismet.com/contact/

I have tried that. Also tried contacting them through the contact form on Automattic.com. Also tried calling.

No luck. They are too busy I guess. If any of you knows them could you please let them know about this issue. Thank you.

Well, when it flags your comments as spam, you can unflag them. This will have it send them back to Akismet with a note that they were incorrect. In theory, this will eventually get you unblocked. Not the best solution, I know. Best I can suggest is to keep trying to contact them. Probably using a different domain for your emails. ??

There are trackback problems within WordPress. Trackback do not get through, even though they are sent to the page through a wordpress server.

Could it be that Akismet is eating them? Could it be that one was erroneously marked as spam, and Akismet has “learnt” that it is spam?

It’s really an impossible situation. I can get around the problem on my own blogs obviously, even though it is annoying and frustrating.

But what is devastating is that neither I nor any of my colleagues can comment on any other wordpress blog in the world. I have no problem commenting on other systems, just wordpress.

    It’s very frustrating.

By the way, I have de spammed my own comments hundreds, perhaps thousands of times. It is even picking up snippets from my posts and tagging them as spam.

I wonder if I am the only one out there having this problem of false positives by Akismet on the own posts.

I had the problem for a while, but not to the extent you are describing. But there is something muffed up with the way Akismet marks spam, that seems obvious.

Glad I found this post. We’re getting spam trackbacks and I was going to consider Akismet to handle them. I can’t take the risk of having me or my registered guests blacklisted on my own blog or anywhere else. It seems Akismet support is unresponsive to issues so at the moment my decision is to deal with the spam manually until I need to block pingbacks and trackbacks altogether. I’m open to someone telling me this is an extreme position but “better safe than sorry” is definitely coming to mind now.

Might I suggest Spam Karma 2 and Bad Behavior plugins then?

I’m not sure, but I think they un-blacklisted me. I finally left a couple phone messages with Matt begging for help. It seems that worked, although I never heard back from him directly. At least I can post comments on my own stable of blogs now.

Anyway, if you did take care of it, thanks Matt.

I’d just like to add that Akismet successfully blocks hundreds of instances of comment spam on our blogs EVERY WEEK! To that extent, it does a great job.

I’m having the same problem. All comments from my username xsplat (xsplat.wordpress.com) are blocked, to my site and all other wordpress sites.

    What can I do?

I contacted Akismet, but I still have this same problem. Very frustrating – I can not post comments on any wordpress site. I’ve been unmarked as spam on my own site and others, but I’m still blacklisted, and they have working method to unblacklist me.

And now I’m having this problem on a blog we just launched. Ridiculous.
