Akismet key became invalid after upgrading to 2.0.7.

  • I upgraded to 2.0.7 by copying those 7 files changed in the new package. But when I logged in as admin, I found that my Akismet key stopped working…Error message is: “The key you entered is invalid. Please double-check it.”

    Does any other people have the same problem? How to solve it?

  • I’m not sure if my prior Akismet key problem (when I upgraded to 2.0.5) is the same as what you are experiencing. I had an invalid key problem and I re-entered the key and it resolved the problem. (I have not been able to get the upgrade to 2.0.7 working because the password field is not available, so I can’t check or test the Akismet plug-in.)

    I would just re-enter it in the options and re-submit it. The key itself would never be invalid as it is something on wordpress.com and nothing you did on your server would ever effect that, but more likely it just needs to be updated in the database again.

    I was just puzzled by this… I re-entered it, and it was said to be invalid.

    sorry that it was my fault. I changed absolute URLs to relative ones, and this caused the verification code not work…
