Akismet NO LONGER Free!?!??

  • Akismet purposefully made their own signup page broken.
    When I try to sign up for an API key, using Personal blog with the yearly contribution set to 0, when I click on the “Continue” button, I’m redirected to this blank page: https://akismet.com/signup/?step=payment which no matter how many times I try to refresh it or start the process all over again, it won’t work!

    However, if I add some dollars to the yearly contribution, when I click on the “Continue” button, it works! YEAH!!!!!!! How convenient!!!!!!

    The free page doesn’t work, the paid page works!!! This is a pathetic and thuggish attempt to force us to pay!

    What’s worse is that WordPress bundles this thug plugin in all their updates/download kits, by default!

    If I was wordpress, I would have removed this plugin, long time ago!

    Well, before you go pointing fingers and saying things like “thug”, you should try a different browser or something, because that page works for me just fine, even at the $0 setting.

    I haven’t been able to reproduce what you’ve described either. If it does turn out to be an issue with a particular browser (or browser plugin) drop a note to [email protected]. If they can reproduce it then they’ll be able to come up with a fix.
