Akismet no longer functioning at 100%

  • I have been using Akismet since I began using wordpress. Over the past few days I have noticed the amount of spam getting through Akismet has increased dramatically! It has become quiet a pain continually going through the comments and deleting spam. I’m sorry I can’t give a accurate time when it first started. I think at least 7 days.
    Here are my stats for missed spam over the last 6 months
    Jul 2011: 4
    Aug 2011: 4
    Sep 2011: 5
    Oct 2011: 2
    Nov 2011: 2
    Dec 2011: 4
    Jan 2012: 173
    What is going on?
    I’m using
    Wordpress 3.3.1
    Akismet 2.5.5
    theme comicpress 2.1

    I recommend you roll back to Askimet 2.5.3 – is working great for me – no more missed spam.

    Just deactivate and uninstall 2.5.5, then upload and activate 2.5.3 (you can get a copy from within the latest wordpress code).

    Let us know if this solves it for you too.

    Am I correct to assume that 2.5.3 is the last version without Jetpack integration?

    I am not sure… I have jetpack, so I guess so…

    Anyone know?

    Akismet is not longer working optimally with WP 3.3.1. I have had to disable commenting until I sort this mess out.
