akismet plugin fatal error

  • I just installed the latest version of WordPress on my new domain and haven’t been able to activate the akismet plugin that was bundled with the files. Every time I click “activate” a message pops up that says

    Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

    I’d like to run akismet as it worked well on my previous sites, but don’t know how to fix this. Any idea what might be wrong?

  • Do you have any other plugins? Did you try to re-upload your installation? There could be a corrupted file when you uploaded. Link to your blog is always helpful.

    Problem fixed. I deactivated a bunch of my plugins to see if they were causing problems and as soon as I did that I was able to activate Akismet. Thanks for the help.
