• Hi:
The count on my spam catcher is increasing all the time however not one item has appeared in the Akismet page of the Comments Caught screen for weeks.

It appears it is catching and deleting all items without review. If anyone can help it would be appreciated.

On the Plugins->Akismet Configuration, there’s an option to “Automatically discard spam comments on posts older than a month.” If that is turned on, any spam that is on posts that are older than a month is silently discarded so you don’t have to deal with it.

I’ve been searching posts regarding this because I don’t have that option checked and I’m seeing the counter going up pretty much daily with no spam showing up in the queue.

Further, I noticed that the total amount of spam caught plus the number of comments I have on my blog add up to more than the next comment ID generated. (For example, there are 100 comments on my blog, and 150 spam caught – but the comment ID on the most recent comment after the caught spam total is 215.) I’m thinking niklasbr is right in this thread when he says there might be a bug.
