Akismet WordPress Plugin (The Real Review)

I started using the Akismet plugin about 10yrs on one of my WordPress blogs it worked quite well for a few years but I had to deal with a lot of comment spam. So I uninstalled the plugin and I used the All In One WP Security & Firewall plugin instead.

This was and still is a great plugin but you do have to play around with the settings a little bit so I would not recommend it to newbies.

I have recently started using Akismet on my current blog because it came as part of the WordPress.com Jetpack pro package. And So far I have had no real problems with comment spam or brute force login attacks.

So from that perspective, it works fine.

However.

I would not recommend that you install Jetpack on your website if you are a newbie because it is quite complicated to set up
