    Hey Opa!

Love the new update. Been using it constantly since you sent it out.

I did notice that my albums display width (I: Album cover size specifications, section 1, #1) is being reset or seemingly reset after a certain period. What is happening is I have it set to 340 pixels and it will show 4 albums across. But if I access an album and go back to the main page it resets to show one album per line.

I mailed you a link to access my site so you can see for your self. Not sure what I need to do to make the setting stick!

    Thank you!

The only way to change the setting wppa_max_cover_width is on the settings page.
So, there must be some joker playing around or someone who rolls a backup back, either on the server (provider) or on the settings page Advanced settings -> Maintenance -> I Item 3. Maybe do this: set it correct and make a backup on Maintenance -> I Item 2.

BTW: To what value is it reset, and ist that the same everytime? (could not see it myself because i am not an admin)

Yah, that didn’t do it. It seems like it will ‘hold’ the value the first time I look at the gallery (go to the gallery page) but then it loses it the second time I load it. My setting is for 300 pixel wide gallery thumbnails which usually yield 4 across. The reset makes all the galleries the full width of the page.

I’ll keep messing around but not sure where to take this one.

To be clear though – when this reset seems to happen the numbers in the setting box do not change. But after I see things are messed up I will go reset the numbers and it seems to work fine.

I do not thing this was happening in the first 8.0 update I added. I believe this started two updates back.

Quick update – I did roll back the gallery plugin to version 8.0.01.004 and that seemed to fix the issues.

So, (on my site at least)
    8.0.02.010 – has the weirdness
8.0.02.008 – Tried this one and it had it as well
8.0.01.004 – worked and did not reset the album width values.

Thanx for the detailed info, i will investigate.

I had the issue yesterday on your site, but my browsercache was full (1GB).
I noticed that later, and did try your site this morning, but i do not have the issue even after repeatedly opening the page and others inbetween. All pageloads show the album covers correctly. There is javascript code involved to format the covers right after document ready, and that code has been changed during the last updates, so it is likely that the browser with an (almost) full cache gets confused. Pls try again after clearing browsercache.

I can not reproduce it on any of my testsites (but did not try it with a full browsercache the way it was full yesterday, so its useless to wait for a full cache)

    Hey Opa,

Yes, the problem has gone away but that is due to the fact I went back to an earlier plugin 1 day ago (at the moment of this writing).

When you visited this morning the site was using v8.0.01.004 of the gallery plugin which did not have the problem. I tested v8.0.02.010 and v8.0.02.008 and they both have the issue where they reset the album size. At the time that 8.0.02.010 was installed I tried several browsers and they all had the problem. Additionally, all the users of my site reported the same problem as well. Since I have switched to v8.0.01.004 everyone (including me) is not experiencing the problem.

The problem as I saw it was I will reset the album cover size and the gallery will look correct ONCE the first time a person sees it. When that person returns to the gallery the setting is erased or lost and there is only one album per line (instead of the usual four album covers per line). From inside the plugin settings though, the number never changes.

I am trying to think if I am doing anything special or weird. The album names are encrypted and they do use your rotating name change function. Basic|Links|5 and Advanced|Maintenance|18, 19. Other than that there aren’t a lot of special things happening I can think of off the top of my head.

For what it’s worth, I did have to switch to a lower version since I will be out on business over the next week and will only have limited access to my computer. I will be around but didn’t want to worry about my visitors having trouble with the albums.

Thanx, i will dig in again

Finally i could reproduce it. This issue happened when both caching and defer javascript were active.

It will be fixed in the next version. (8.0.03).
