Using Photonic to display Google albums. Setup a local test site, initialized appropriate parameters – as per your directions got the album id as follows:

Unlike PicasaWeb there is no easy way to determine the ID of an album. I have gotten around this by providing a “Helper” for it. You can go to Photonic → Helpers → Picasa / Google Photos, put in your user name, and get the IDs. To get the IDs of Google Photos albums you will need to authenticate.

Got the id and was able to display as per your Albums note. No problem – all is fine!

So why am I posting this – well it all stopped working and I got errors instead of albums. I went back to your helper and checked the Album IDs – they had all changed! I.E. Album ID was 6302485410990813009 and changed to 6500998050422972209. Needless to say, this breaks all kind of links to my albums. What would cause the Album IDs to change? It has been about six-eight weeks since I first got Photonic working until today when I was ready to migrate to a live site. No migration has been done as I, obviously, cannot use this plugin until I find out why the Album IDs changed. BTW there are 17 albums I am wanting to use with 12-34 pictures in an album.

Help with any suggestions is very much appreciated.

    Thanks – Ken

To be honest, I have never seen Google change album ids unless you have recreated albums and added the same pictures back. I have had the same album ids for over 13 years now, and I have also not seen any other reports of this happening.

    Two questions.

As regards my initial posting of the album id’s changing. In going back and looking at my notes I realize that I did go into each album and modify the contents by deleting some photos or rearranging the order of some photos in the albums. Is this sufficient for Google to change the album ID?

The second was browsing the forum and saw a topic saying that they could not get the photonic plugin to work with a mobile device? I did not see a reply to this issue. What is the status of this issue?

    THANKS – Ken

Modifying the contents would not change an album’s id, but if you have created a new album and added all (or most) of your old images there and kept the same album name would cause you to get a different id.

Can you point me to the other forum topic? I am very diligent about responding to support queries, so I would be curious to see the thread if I missed responding. There aren’t any issues with the plugin working with mobile devices – it works fine and I have taken care to add touch functionality even to lightbox scripts that don’t support it out of the box.
