• First, this plugin is really great after you get through the hastle of registering with Google. Congratulations. I’ll but you a coffee for sure.

My question is, for a Google album could you display the album name in the same way as the album name for a Flickr album as shown on this web page on our web site. I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that the API doesn’t provide the album name, in which case I would be pleased to provide such a name as one of the parameters in the shortcode itself. The presentation for a Flickr album is quite handsome and I was expecting the same for a Google album.

If I understand correctly, you are looking to display an album thumbnail, its title and the number of photos at the top of your Google Photos gallery.

Do you need all 3 or just the title?

You are right that the API doesn’t provide this information.

The challenge with what you are asking for is that you still wouldn’t be able to provide an album thumbnail (Google’s links keep changing, so a link that you put in now will be invalid later). So the best you can get via shortcode parameters are the title and the photo count. But… if you are willing to pass this information as a shortcode parameter, why not simply provide that as a heading in your markup instead of sending it to the shortcode?
